Obama bows to Boehner; jobs speech will be Sept. 8

Description: The Title of this posting is the headline on Yahoo news.
1. Keeping with centuries of custom and precedent, Obama sought approval from Congressional leadership to address a joint session of Congress.
2. This is arguably one of the most important functions of a president.
3. Speaker Boehner (pronounced Boner), rejected Obama's request: the first time in history that has ever happened.
4. Boehner is directly confronting the strength of the President.
5. The president has 3 options. he can be: Strong, Neutral, or Weak.
6. To be strong, the President must ignore the Republicans in Congress. To be neutral, he can adapt to obstacles presented by Republicans. To be weak, he will bow in the face of confrontation.

Strong Obama:
"If the Speaker does not wish to attend my address to Congress, then he will be left out. I will continue with my plans and address the nation."

Neutral Obama: I still plan to address the nation this Wednesday as planned. The address will take place from the Oval Office."

Weak Obama:
"Very well, whatever Mr. Boehner wishes will be fine with me. For the good of the nation I will bow and abdicate the authority of the Executive branch."

Summary:
A Strong Obama would simply brush aside Mr. Boehner's odd refusal to hear the President speak and address half of Congress.

Actual Outcome: The President chose the weak path, and once again gave Mr. Boehner what he wanted.

Lesson Learned: The pattern in most of the posts on this site will be the following: A strong Obama will by-pass and simply ignore Congress.
